Au large de la Côte Sauvage d'Afrique du Sud.

( In Gleesh here. ) Bonne nouvelle: hier, le Capitaine m'a donné le lien pour suivre le vaisseau sur le site de trafic maritime: http://www.marinetraffic.com/ais/details/ships/311603000

Il semblerait que le bateau n'apparait que si vous connaissez son numéro d'identification maritime, et il n'est pas listé dans les recherches par nom.

Ces derniers jours ont été très occupés, quelque peu bouleversés par la météo peu favorabl qui nous a forcé à changer notre emploi du temps: le soir où nous étions censés partir du Cap, une tempête a fermé le port à tout trafic maritime. Le matin suivant, nous sommes donc partis en bus pour Hermanus et Gordon's Bay, et notre bateau a passé le Cap de Bonne Espérance pendant que nous visitions les environs, après quoi il nous a récupérés en fin d'après-midi.

Grâce à cette stratégie, et en écourtant notre visite à Mossel Bay, nous sommes parvenus à rattraper notre retard.

Nous sommes passés au large de Port Élizabeth heir, mon chez-moi pendant pas mal d'années au siècle dernier...

Nous avons bénéficié d'une journée magnifique, avec une longue houle, et presque pas de vent. À l'approche de Bird Island, nous sommes tombés sur un groupe d'oiseaux, de dauphins, et même de baleines. Nous ne pouvons que supposer que cette fête gargantuesque se faisait aux dépends d'un banc de sardines.

Ce matin, la Côte Sauvage se montre à nous sous une couverture nuageuse, et nous avons déjà traversé quelques averses. Ce sera probablement assez tranquille jusqu'à Durban.

Je vais essayer de trouver le temps d'éditer quelques photos, mais ça risque de ne pas être tout de suite...

Off the wild coast.

For some reason, it looks like you  can only track it if you know its IMSI number, and it does not show when you search it by name.

It has been a couple of very hectic days, somewhat hampered by weather conditions that forced us to change our plans: on the night we were supposed to leave Cape Town, gale force winds closed the harbour to all traffic. So the next day, we bussed to Hermanus and Gordon's Bay, so that the ship would catch-up, sailing around Cape of Good Hope while we were visiting the area, and picked us up late in the afternoon.

It somehow all worked up, and shortening our visit in Mossel Bay helped us catch-up with our delay.

We passed  Port Elisabeth yesterday, my home for many years in the last century...

The weather was fantastic, with long swells and almost no wind. As we went around Bird Island, we came across a feeding frenzy, where birds, dolphins penguins and even a few whales were congregating in an area. We can only surmise there was a shoal of sardines feeding this gargantuan feast.

This morning, the Wild Coast is overcast by big clouds, and we've been sailing through patches of rain. It will probably be very quiet until we get to Durban.
